One hundred and fifty-five people boarded US Airways Flight 1549 at La Guardia Airport New York on January 15th, 2009 destined for Charlotte, North Carolina.
Those same one hundred and fifty-five people left that aircraft in the middle of the Hudson River three and a half minutes after takeoff, and what transpired in between is remarkable.
What is considered by many as the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ is explained by my guest Emma Sophina.
The only foreign national on that flight that day, Australian, Emma recalls the lifetime of memories that she lived before, during, and after that day that has now made aviation history.
Captain Sully Sullenberger has been applauded for what he achieved that day, in saving all of those lives, but it may also be his actions after the landing that will stay in the memories of many, however.
